38 Posts, but Who's Counting
I guess Lichess is... CoolWriting, writing and more writing...
Recently, I wrote a couple new posts, and I noticed that I am up to 38 blog posts, and here comes 39. I guess I am just in a writing mood at the moment since this is my third post in almost as many days. Putting my thoughts in writing has helped me so much with processing different things in life. I remember when my mother first bought me a small purple diary with a lock and key. Boy, I would love to find that little book now. I think it would be cute to read about what was on my heart when I was a young girl. As I got older, the school system of which I was a "victim" convinced me that I was a terrible writer, and so English became my least favorite subject in school. I never spent my free time composing anything unless I absolutely had to for an assignment. Later, with the freedom of college life and compelled by young love, I started journaling once again. I suppose that even though that relationship and subsequent marriage ended 20 years later, it is still good to know my thought process and learn from and grow from my past. Of course, when I had kids, I engaged in a whole new level of writing and scrapbooking, and I am very happy to have preserved those memories for our two sons and the rest of the family as well. When I was going through tough times in my life, I often bought a new notebook, and those prose were sometimes illegible because they were smudged by tears. I think of all my collection, and it is those very unreadable notes that are the most valuable. It was in the heartbreak that I learned the most and became a stronger and more confident person.
Some Side Notes on Chess
So here I am, an average-rated chess player, recording my thoughts for anyone to see. In the past, I would have worried about hurtful comments discouraging me, as they so often did in high school. I would have had concerns about my grammar or writing style or if I offended someone. (I still don't mean to offend anyone, but I'm not so worried about it to the point of not writing at all.) This space was built for chess players to play games and learn about chess, and most of the blog posts I see here are in line with that cause. I respect the guys who can generate new ideas about chess weekly to share with others. For me, I know that I am not a strong enough player to dole out advice on chess tactics, but I like to offer my perspective on some of the peripheral aspects of the game as different situations come up during play.
Thoughts to Share
When I don't have something fresh to offer the chess world, it is fun for me to write up my random thoughts. I know that they are not as popular here on a chess website, but I still enjoy putting all my posts in one place. I like the idea of sharing a bit of my personality beyond just how I play chess. In that way, if we ever play a game, you know a bit more about who you are competing against. I really feel like Lichess has provided a nice platform for players to get to know each other through blogs and forums, and although I prefer in-person, over-the-board play, this site is about as good as it gets for creating opportunities to socialize in chess.
Share with Me
With that being said, let me know what you think about blogging. Or hit me up for a game. Or just enjoy this post. ;-)
I wish you a great day!
Cheers!
