Starting 2026 the Right Way – A Winning First Step at ChessCraft Arena

TournamentOver the boardChess
The beginning of a new season always comes with expectations, goals, and a lot of work behind the scenes. Every tournament is a test — not only of preparation, but also of mindset and consistency. On January 11th, 2026, I had the chance to take my first competitive step of the year at Mega Mall ChessCraft Arena, starting a season that I approach with clarity, ambition, and long-term objectives in mind.

A Strong Start to a New Season

On January 11th, 2026, I played my first tournament of the year at Mega Mall ChessCraft Arena – Stage I, in the A–U16 section.
It felt good to sit at the board again with a clear goal in mind and a new season ahead. I managed to finish the tournament in 1st place, a result that gives me confidence and positive energy for what is coming next.

More Than Just Chess Games

Between rounds, the tournament was not only about calculating variations and managing time on the clock. Together with my teammates and friends from the Chess Architect community, we spent the breaks at Pizza Hut, right there in Mega Mall.
Those moments matter. We talked, laughed, analyzed positions, and simply enjoyed being together. This balance between competition and social interaction helps me stay relaxed and focused during tournaments.
Chess is an individual sport at the board, but the journey is never a solitary one.

Confidence, Routine, and Community

Winning this tournament is important, but even more important is how it fits into my broader process. I approached the event as part of my training routine:

  • stay focused,
  • apply what I work on daily in training,
  • and manage my energy throughout the day.

Starting the season with a victory is motivating, but I see this result as a checkpoint, not a destination.

Looking Ahead: Season 2026

The 2026 season has just begun, and my objectives are clear. One of my main goals this year is to fight for a Grandmaster norm. That requires consistency, discipline, strong opposition, and the ability to perform under pressure again and again.
This tournament was a small but meaningful step in that direction.
I’m grateful for the people around me, for the environment I train in, and for every opportunity to test myself at the board. The road is long, but the season has started exactly the way I hoped it would.
On to the next challenge. ️
