Surprised myself

ChessAnalysis
I made a move that gave me a sense that I actually can do good moves

Apologies for the terrible play against Stockfish 3

I will get reasonable I hope. I was enjoying learning some material on the A11 English Opening: Caro-Kann Defensive System. I prefer playing black in most cases this year.

I had a sense that my game was moving in the right direction once I made a non-standard move after a shocking error by the engine on move 11. I was transfixed by the sudden availability of space and unguarded - D3. Took it until move 15 when I made a cheeky take Bxe4 to take advantage of another error. The middle game is where most errors occurred. I was overtired as well which is most likely why I missed out on the early checkmate.

I guess Stockfish doesn't like the Kann anyway. so many errors recently on several games. The initial BD3 result was marginal but I sat there for 4 moves or so. Felt like an age. even my erroneous Knight ended up being ideal for the endgame. Being on the D3 square seems to have given me a bigger advantage than the engine calculates. I couldn't find any games with this mix. I take the win, as a rookie and late learner, I think my training is paying off. Maybe this is another example of a conundrum I have - I miss easy stuff all the time and find some basic tasks very difficult.
