Gambits for U2000 players, part 4

ChessAnalysisOpeningLichess
The Bf4 line of Budapest gambit

In the previous post about the Budapest gambit we looked at the most popular line that amateur chess players play.
Now let's look at one of the best options, the Bf4 or Rubinstein line.

The old fashioned line where black answers to Bf4 like they would answer to the Adler line in the previous blog post.
That line has one trick for black with a smothered checkmate. You never know whether your opponent will fall for it :)

The modern line where black creates holes in their position but hopes for active piece play.

A GM game with a surprise piece sacrifice. A clean game (0/0/0) by GM Jobava (One of the top blitz players on Lichess). Played OTB in Wijk aan Zee, 2014

A GM game, almost flawless play by black, where the 2600+ GM playing white loses. Erwin L'Ami - Robin Swinkels, OTB NED-ch, 2011

If you want to read more check the Wikipedia page about the Budapest gambit, it is quite a good read!

Epilogue : Dear readers, thanks for all the feedback to the gambit blog posts. I even received positive responses from 2000+ players.
