The 44th Ghent Open is a 9-round Swiss tournament held from the 15th of July to the 19th in Ghent, Belgium.

This non-rated tournament is the classic tournament as it has been organized for years. Play chess for fun without worrying about the rating. The players now have the choice, either they play as before in a tournament that does not count for Elo-treatment, or they participate in the new tournament, the Fide-Rated.

The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves with a 30-second increment beginning from move 1.
