About me

Hello! My name is Jadranko Plenca, a 25-year-old International Master (IM) from Rijeka, Croatia. Chess has been my passion since childhood, and it would be my pleasure to share my knowledge and experience with you.
📧 Feel free to contact me at jadrogm@gmail.com

Playing experience

I began playing chess at the age of 8, and since then I’ve dedicated my life to the game. Over the years, I’ve won numerous tournaments and achieved a Grandmaster norm.

My most notable achievement was becoming European Vice-Champion (Standard) in Mamaia (2017), where I defeated several elite players, including Haik Martirosyan in the final round.

Other highlights of my career include:

-Multiple titles as Croatian Champion in cadet and junior categories

-Bronze medal at the European Junior Team Championship, Rymanów Zdrój (2017)

-European Rapid Champion, Novi Sad (2016)

-Gold medal at the Mitropa Cup (2017)

-Tournament victories and podium finishes: Villach Open 2018 (1st place), Vasja Pirc Memorial 2018 (3rd place), Zagreb Open 2018 (top finisher)

Teaching experience

I am both an International Master (IM) and a certified FIDE Instructor (FI), with over 5 years of coaching experience. My strengths lie in opening preparation, strategic planning, and practical training methods. I’ve helped many strong players sharpen their skills and reach new competitive levels.

I’ve also worked extensively with juniors at local chess clubs, guiding many of them to become category leaders and medalists at the Croatian Chess Championships. My experience with international students has shaped an adaptable, student-focused coaching style.

Whether you are a beginner building a foundation, a junior striving for rapid progress, or an advanced player preparing for serious tournaments, I provide personalized training programs tailored to your goals.
