About me

Hello and welcome you at my profile! I'm Florian, 28 years old from Germany. I'm currently finishing my master in electrical engineering.

Chess has always been a big part of my life. I play chess since I was 10 years old. This was the start of an exciting journey!

Playing experience

In my youth I became addicted to the game :). After some painful losses I started to train myself and within 2 years I became one of the best players in my age group in my federal state. My first "big success" was Bavarian U12 champion in 2009. Since then I won the youth federal championship 4 times. The highlight of my chess youth was surely the 1st place in the U18 German Championship in 2014 featuring players like GM Jonas Lampert, GM Lev Yankelevich, ... .
Since then I played several tournaments and regularly 2nd and 3rd league in Germany for SC Forchheim and my current club SC Erlangen.

My current rating is 2314 Fide Elo, my peak rating is 2345 Fide Elo.

Teaching experience

I received regularly coaching from Nadja Jussupow (wife of GM Artur Jussupow), a professional chess coach from Russia, since I was 12 years old. She accompanied me in chess until I was 18 years old. I learned the basics and came in touch with Artur Jussupow's and Mark Dworezki's training methods. The most important thing I learned was self-reliance. In my personal opinion the main task of a good coach is to figure out a good personal training concept, answer questions, give direction and show ways to improvement.

I started coaching in 2015. I was part of the Bavarian Coach team for the German Youth Championship 2015. Since then I worked with several young players, one of them also won the Bavarian Youth Championship. For 3 years now I also coach the 1st team of SC Hoechstadt in Germany.

Other experiences

I always liked teaching. I was tutor at the university in Erlangen for different lectures.

Best skills

As a player I was always interested in my openings and invested a lot of time in my repertoire and for preparations :). Apart from that I consider my extensive chess education as one of my greatest strength. Especially the play with initiative, strategic understanding and endgames brought me many points ;).

As a coach I rely on my personal student experience. I faced many problems to the way of improvement myself and figured out ways to achieve my goals in chess. I see it as my task as a coach not only to give lessons/examples etc. but also to figure out a personal concept with you which leads to improvement and most important enjoyment of the game. Part of that is to answer your questions, discuss steps together and find good solutions.

Teaching methodology

It's hard for me to describe a general teaching methodology.
If you are interested to work on chess together, I would suggest you write me a message and we meet for a free lesson.
Depending on your motivation, goals and interests I can work out a suitable training concept with you.

I take students from beginner level up to 2200 Elo. I offer training lessons and training games. I'm available in German or English :).
I look forward to your message!

Best regards,
Florian
