About me

Hello. I'm Vlad, 24 years old. I'm Fide Master. Peak rating – 2368.

Playing experience

I am an active player, having been dedicated to chess for 18 years. Winner of many classical, rapid and blitz tournaments. My best tournaments:

FIDE World School Chess Championship (2018) – 3rd place
Southern Federal District Junior Rapid Chess Championship (2015) – 1st place
Rostov Junior Chess Championship (2015, 2016) – 1st place
Rostov Junior Region Rapid Chess Championship (2018, 2019) – 1st place
Rostov Blitz Chess Championship (2023) – 3rd place

Teaching experience

Teaching experience – 4 years. By training and profession, I'm a teacher, so, I'm using up-to-date methodology and vary it depending on the student and his/her need. I'm having more than 40 students of different level so I can help each and everyone to improve their level.

Best skills

I am good at endgames, that is why I tend to perform better in faster time controls.

Also, I have quite a good opening repertoire for both positional and tactical players and I would be more than happy to share my knowledge.

Teaching methodology

In the first lesson, I provide a list of the positions to a student in order try to understand their thought process and discuss their moves. Then, I analyze the games of the student and find out their strengths and weaknesses. This helps me to prepare specific course material for the needs of the student.

I try to be more like a guide than a lecturer, so that the student can continue practicing and improving efficiently, even on their own. For example, I think chess players trying to improve can do tactics on their own and not spend lesson time doing it. When I discuss openings with students, I try to explain how they are connected to middlegames and to endgames, so that a student isn’t merely memorizing engine suggestions.

And every student has to understand that their own preparation is also very important. The stronger you are, the more time you should spend to maintain and improve your chess level.

Training games are also available (with online or after-the-game commentary).
