Head Instructor at the Chess Gymnasium, supporting long-term, structured training
Alongside coaching, I remain an active competitor and have achieved two IM norms (2024 & 2025). I play in the Swedish Elite League and regularly compete in national and international tournaments.
I am married and the proud father of a 3.5-year-old son, and we live in Nybro, Småland Region, Sweden.

About me
Playing experience
I am an active competitive chess player with two IM norms (2024 & 2025) and regular participation in national and international tournaments. I currently compete in Sweden’s top league.
Winning tournaments has been an important part of my chess journey. In 2025, I won the Ghent Open in Belgium, a strong international open with nearly 375 participants, along with several national and regional titles in Turkey and Sweden.
These results are important to me not only as achievements, but as proof that significant progress and competitive success are achievable with the right mindset, preparation, and long-term work the same approach I apply with my students.

Teaching experience
I have a background as an industrial engineer with a Master’s degree in Project Management, which supports a structured and goal-oriented approach to teaching.
For the past seven years, I have worked full-time as a professional chess coach, instructor, and commentator, while remaining active as a tournament player. This allows me to share up-to-date, practical chess knowledge with my students.
I have coached players of many ages and levels, from beginners to competitive juniors and adults.

Other experiences
In addition to coaching and playing, I have extensive experience as a chess commentator, mainly working with official events in collaboration with the Swedish Chess Federation.
I have commented on international elite events, including Chess Olympiads and European Team Championships, as well as many national tournaments in Sweden. My goal is to make high-level chess clear, educational, and engaging.
I am open to new commentary collaborations.

Best skills
As a player, I am tactically strong with a deep understanding of calculation and tactical patterns. This helps my students significantly improve their tactical awareness and practical thinking.
My teaching style is interactive and student-centered. Lessons are based on active thinking and discussion, supported by optional homework so students can continue training independently between sessions.

Teaching methodology
My teaching usually starts with analyzing my students’ own games. By reviewing several games together, we identify strengths, recurring mistakes, and clear long-term improvement goals.
Lessons are varied and engaging, covering different aspects of the game such as tactics, strategy, calculation, endgames, and opening understanding. I strongly believe that learning chess should never be boring.
I do not focus on memorizing meaningless move sequences. Instead, I emphasize understanding ideas, patterns, and decision-making in real positions.
Over the years, I have built a large, customized chess database, allowing me to tailor training material to each student’s needs across all phases of the game.
