About me

I'm 37, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I learnt the rules of chess in 1997 and have played ever since.

- Candidate Master (2019)

Playing experience

I've studied with IM Jorge Rubinetti, who's won the Argentine Chess Championship four times. I've also studied with IM Ernesto Real de Azua, who has vast teaching experience and thanks to whom I've gained almost a hundred points (FIDE ELO standard rating) within a year. I've also studied with GM Salvador Alonso, who is in the top 15th of Argentina, and GM Carlos Obregón, who is in the top 10th of Argentina.

I've won two open chess tournaments and I've participated in two professional chess tournaments with GMs and IMs in them.

Open tournaments I've won:

2. http://chess-results.com/tnr236534.aspx?lan=2&art=0

Open and professional chess tournaments I've taken part in:

(Yael Open, ITT IM and Magistral GM)

Teaching experience

6 years of teaching experience to players from 0 to 1800 rating on Lichess, for entertainment or competitions.
I always hear what's most important: the student goals. I try to adapt my lessons according to them.
If there's something I've learnt in these years is that organization is key for both, teacher and student. Therefore, my lessons are divided into different categories (for different lessons) and different stages (within the lesson), so that the student can learn the concepts properly, without getting confused.

Other experiences

I used to teach English and music (especially guitar, which is the instrument I play the most). I also have a good understanding of how to play the drums.

- Certificate of Proficiency in English (March 2019)

Best skills

Good understanding of strategy in closed positions.

Objectivity in analysis.

Lessons very clear and organized. The process of learning chess is not easy. So, a step-by-step study and a steady plan is highly required.

Teaching methodology

+ Lessons:

The lesson generally has three parts: introduction of a topic (definition and examples), a practice in class of what we've just seen, and homework on all the concepts discussed.

There are two different types of lesson: tactics and strategy. These two main topics are always studied in separate sessions.

- Tactics:

1. Basic, intermediate and advanced themes, presented in puzzles to analyze or solve in the middlegame and endgame stages.
2. Calculation (how to do it).
3. Opening traps.
4. Easy-to-hard mate in 2 and mate in 3 puzzles.

- Strategy:

1. Piece exchange (absolute and relative value of pieces).
2. Pawn structure.
3. Famous endgame every single chess player must know.
4. Development of style and opening repertoire.
5. How to evaluate positions.
6. Candidate moves and move selection.

+ Training games:

With training games, we address a different issue. It is more related to the practical matter. Ideal for:

1. Improvement of time management. (stop losing winning positions on time!)
2. Getting a sense of what a tournament situation would be.
3. Applying all the concepts learned in the lessons.

Open to any time control, but I suggest slower ones, to make the most of these games.
Communication and sharing ideas during the games, takebacks and adding time are ways to improve the experience.
