With 40 years immersed in the game and 33 years honing my skills in tournament play, my journey has been one of continuous learning and achievement. Since becoming champion, my greatest joy has been guiding young talents, seeing 5 become national champions and a dozen achieve various master titles (NM, WCM, CM, FM, IM). Beyond that, I'm proud to have coached more than a dozen Namibian Junior Champions, developed 7 African medalists, including an African Girls Under 8 Champion and an African Youth Under 19 Champion. Whether you're just starting out or aiming for grandmaster status, I offer comprehensive coaching in all facets of chess. My recent CM title at the 2024 Chess Olympiad is a testament to my ongoing pursuit of excellence, which I bring to every lesson.

My Tournament Playing Experience
I've been a dedicated tournament player for 33 years, honing my skills and competing at the highest levels. This journey culminated in becoming the Namibian Champion in 2011, a title I cherish. Throughout my competitive career, I've secured multiple medals in national tournaments.

My international experience includes representing Namibia at four Chess Olympiads: Khanty-Mansiysk, Siberia in 2010; Tromsø, Norway in 2014; Baku, Azerbaijan in 2016; and most recently, Budapest, Hungary in 2024. These experiences have provided invaluable insights into high-level competitive play, constantly refining my understanding of the game.

My Coaching & Teaching Experience
As a professional chess coach and FIDE Instructor since 2010, I've dedicated myself to developing chess talent in Namibia for over a decade. Since 2007, I've been actively coaching in schools and consistently running my own chess academy every weekend. From 2007 to 2021, this was the TWCA, and since 2022 to the present (2025), it's the MCA. Through these platforms, I've nurtured young minds and guided them through their chess journey.

I've had the immense privilege of coaching dozens of young players to become Junior Champions and champions across various age groups, from Under 8 to Under 20, with many earning National Master titles. A true highlight of my career has been seeing 5 of my students achieve the prestigious title of Namibian Champion. Furthermore, four of my dedicated students have gone on to earn international FIDE titles: Woman Candidate Master (WCM), Candidate Master (CM), FIDE Master (FM), and International Master (IM). These students are also medalists on the African continent, with two achieving the ultimate honor of African Champion in their respective age groups: one became the African Under 8 Girls Champion in 2018 and another the African Youth Champion Under 18 in 2019. This is a testament to their hard work and the effectiveness of our training.

Beyond my academy and school commitments, I offer versatile coaching options to suit your needs. I provide **online chess lessons**, capable of instructing **groups as large as 40 students**, making quality coaching accessible from anywhere.

For those preferring a more direct approach, I also offer **face-to-face coaching**. A significant part of my service includes **assisting students with tournament preparation**, ensuring they are mentally and strategically ready for competitive play. My teaching methodology is built on a structured and holistic approach designed to maximize student growth and performance.

1. **Structured Learning & Reinforcement**: I provide comprehensive learning material, ensuring students grasp core concepts. This theoretical understanding is immediately reinforced through targeted **exercises and drills**, solidifying their knowledge and practical application skills. Every lesson is delivered with **clear objectives and expected outcomes**, so students always know what they're working towards and what they'll achieve. I also diligently **track my students' progress**, ensuring they master the necessary skills at their current level before advancing to the next, guaranteeing a solid foundation for continuous improvement.

2. **Practical Application & Tournament Readiness**: To further embed learning and prepare students for competition, I actively engage in **sparring matches** with them. In group settings, I facilitate **matches between students** to reinforce learned themes and topics. We then progress to playing **complete games with timers and scoresheets**, specifically designed to hone their practical tournament skills under realistic conditions.

3. **Holistic Development for Peak Performance**: Beyond the chessboard, I believe in nurturing the whole player. I provide essential advice on **discipline, physical fitness, and diet**, recognizing their crucial role in sustained focus and performance.
