¡Hello! I am Cesar Manuel Tamames Soria, International Master of Cuba. I am 18 years old and my life has revolved around the board since I made my first official move at age 5.
I currently reside in Spain but I am born in Cuba and I dedicate myself professionally to chess, combining high-performance competition with teaching. My career is marked by precocity and ambition: I won the title of International Master at the age of 15 (being the second youngest in the history of my country) and I had the honor of being the youngest player to qualify for an Absolute Final in Cuba.
Despite my youth, I have a career of more than a decade in the national and international elite, which allows me to fully understand modern chess and the technological tools that today define real progress. Beyond titles, I am passionate about deep analysis and strategy, and my goal is to guide other players along the path I took myself to mastery.
About me
Playing experience
I started competing at the age of five, and since then I have walked the path that you are trying to climb now:
*🏆 National Multi-champion: Winner of the U-8, U-10 and U-12 nationals.
*🥈 International Success: Double silver in the prestigious Capablanca in Memoriam and silver in the Central American U-12 (where I won the CM title).
*🚀 Historical record: After winning the Central American U-20, I became an International Master at the age of 15, being the second youngest MI in Cuban history.
*National Elite: I was the youngest player to qualify and participate in the Cuban Absolute Final.

Teaching experience
Why train with me?
Unlike other trainers, I have passed every level (from 1000 to 2400+) very recently. I have fresh problems, doubts and blockages that you suffer at every stage. I will not teach you theory from 30 years ago; I will teach you the method of the modern youth elite that leads people to reach high levels very quickly at any level.
My specialty:
*🎯 Elite openings: I will help you build a solid and aggressive repertoire. I know how to prepare lines that make even teachers uncomfortable.
*🧠 Universal Style: I don't believe in specializing in just one thing. I will teach you how to be an adaptable player: solid when position requires it and lethal when tactical opportunity appears.
*📈 The "Progress Method": My training is based on the system that allowed me to raise hundreds of Elo points in record time.

Other experiences
Well, at my young age, my other experiences are:
1. Specialist in Elite Tools (ChessBase & Engines):
"Expert in managing databases (ChessBase 26) and state-of-the-art analytics engines (Stockfish 17, Leela Chess Zero). Not only do I teach you plays, I teach you to work and study like a professional does in the XXI century.".
2. Psychology and Resilience in High Competition:
"Pressure management and sports psychology. Having competed in absolute finals and high-stress international tournaments since I was 10 years old, I can help you overcome the fear of losing Elo, the nervousness in tournaments and how to stay focused on critical positions.".
3. High Level Sparring:
"Sparring: I offer training match sessions with immediate subsequent analysis. It is the fastest way to detect bugs and vices in your fast, lightning game.".
4. News of the "Meta" of Chess:
"Deep knowledge of the current 'metagame'. Being an active player with 2550 of Elo in Lichess, I know perfectly well the most dangerous opening lines and trends that are being played on the platform today, both in positional chess and in modern dynamic play."

Best skills
1. Construction of an Elite Repertoire (Openings)
I will give you the necessary weapons to get you out of the opening with an advantage or, at least, with a position that you understand better than your rival. I specialize in creating practical, modern and difficult-to-prepare repertoires, adapted to your study time and play style.
2. Transition between Levels (The "Roadmap" of Progress)
I know exactly what it feels like to be stuck in 1200, 1600 or 2000 points because I have passed each phase recently. My main skill is to identify the 'weak link' in your chain of play (whether tactics, lack of plan or poor time management) and give you the exact exercises to break that glass ceiling.
3. Positional understanding and universal play
Domain of universal style. I will teach you how to evaluate positions objectively and how to adapt: from how to maneuver in closed Carlsbad-type structures to how to launch a decisive attack when the position opens. My goal is for you to be a complete player who is not afraid of any kind of position.
4. Specific preparation against Rivales (Tournament Mode)
Advanced skills in pre-game preparation. If you have a tournament, I teach you how to study your rivals, detect their weaknesses in the database, and choose the opening line that most bothers them. You will learn the 'art of preparation' used in high competition.

Teaching methodology
The "PROGRESSIVE METHOD" is not based on "seeing a position and commenting on it.". That is passive and does not generate Elo. My training is active, personalized and data-driven. It is divided into four fundamental pillars:
🔬 1. Chess DNA audit (Diagnosis)
Before I start, I do an in-depth analysis of your last 20 games. We are not looking for loose tactical errors, we are looking for error patterns. Do you fail due to lack of calculation, fear of complexity or lack of knowledge of structures? We attacked the root of the problem, not the symptom.
📚 2. The "Intelligent Repertoire" (Opens)
Forget to memorize infinite lines that never happen. I will give you a repertoire based on understanding plans and structures. I teach you how to use analytics engines and databases like a professional so that you always leave the opening with an advantage (or with a position that you understand better than your opponent).
⚡ 3. Calculation and decision-making training
Chess is decided at critical moments. We will work with the method of candidate plays and visualization, forcing you to think during the class. My goal is to "rewire" your brain so that you can find the right play intuitively.
📈 4. Post-class Mentoring and Monitoring
My students are not alone between sessions. You will have access to:
Private Studies in Lichess: Interactive material with the topics seen in class.
Weekly Work Plan: Specific tasks (selected puzzles, strategic reading) to keep up.
Tournament Analysis: If you play a tournament, we review your games to adjust the training plan.
