Playing experience

My love for chess began at age 8 when my father taught me how to play, creating an amazing bond between us. If you have a child, I highly recommend teaching them chess, it’s worth it!

From 8 to 18, I played professionally and became a provincial and national youth champion for consecutive years. Notable achievements include second place in the Pan American U-20 Championship (2012) and 10th place in the World Youth Chess Championship (2011). I also earned the FIDE Master title at 15, with a peak rating of 2190.

After that, I took a break from competitive play. Why did I stop? It’s nearly impossible to make a living from chess unless you’re in the top 10 in the world. Now, I still play occasionally, just one or two tournaments per year, but I prioritize my lessons because teaching is my full-time job, and I enjoy it even more!

Best skills

I am fun, flexible, and have extensive experience teaching both adults and kids. I adapt to your needs! As your chess coach, my goal is to make the learning process enjoyable while helping you reach the next level. After an initial diagnostic lesson, I will create a personalized study plan and do my best to design engaging and interactive lessons.

Beyond that, as a dedicated enthusiast, I go the extra mile by sharing additional materials, organizing tournaments, and offering continuous support outside of class. With my guidance, you will elevate your chess skills and achieve your goals for sure!

Teaching methodology

Learning chess is all about recognizing patterns and applying them in your games. With so much scattered information out there, you need someone who knows the right order in which to study those patterns. That’s why I’ve developed my own lesson plans based on the student’s rating and my experience in what truly works to help them progress to the next level. I have a structured plan designed to take you from 0 to 1800.

Of course, every student is unique, so I adjust my lessons accordingly, but having a clear guide is crucial, it’s better than improvising!

My lessons are built using material from renowned authors like Polgar, Nimzowitsch, Aagaard, Brunia, van Wijgerden, de la Villa, and Miguel Miguel Illescas, among others.

My specialty is fostering logical thinking, helping students analyze any position strategically and make the best possible moves.
