About me
I am a FIDE Candidate Master, as of now at the best ELO rating peak at 2263, based in Poland. Even though I graduated in the field of Electrical Engineering, in 2023 I decided to become a full-time chess coach and opened my own chess school: kacperkarwowski.com
Playing experience
I learned how to play chess at the age of 5. During my junior career, I participated in dozens of Polish Junior Championships and won two medals in classical chess (U10 - 2008, U18 - 2016). After graduating from high school, I focused more on teaching others. Founding my chess school inspired me to return to competitive play, with the goal of becoming a FIDE Master.
Teaching experience
Despite my young age I would consider myself an experienced coach, as I have been teaching since 2015. At first, I taught children from scratch, but nowadays I teach both kids and grown-ups, regardless of their level, thanks to many years of collecting and creating chess materials. As of now, my biggest success as a coach is training one of my students from scratch in 2 years to participate in Polish Junior Championships. Since 2023, I have been teaching tens of children in schools and ambitious players individually.
Other experiences
I was the editor-in-chief of the Chessbrains.pl news site in 2019 and participated in Chesstoken.io project in 2019-2021, but sadly both projects are no longer continued.
During pandemic, with a group of chess friends called Robbery&Form, I co-organised a few online charity events with live coverage on Twitch as the main commentator.
Since March 2024, I have started my Youtube channel, where I stream and upload instructional videos.

Best skills
I would say my standout skills as a teacher are:
- Individual approach: Even though I have a lot of materials ready to use, I can work on any specific topic my student wants.
- Strong calculations skills: I observed that many players struggle right after the opening phase, so I came up with a solution to that problem.
- Focusing on the ideas in the openings: Playing chess is not a memorization contest, so I teach about the structure and plans before going into ovelwhelming number of variations.

Teaching methodology
My native language is Polish, but I have no problems teaching in English. I use Chesscom / Lichess and Skype / Discord / Google Meet.
Together with my students, we care about a calculation training, building a suitable opening repertoire and other topics requiring improvement. After each lesson, I follow up with a homework related to lesson's topic.
If you are ambitious and ready to progress steadily, hit me up :)
