About me

I am Mirko Sajin, FIDE Master (FM, FIDE ID 14412870) from Bosnia & Herzegovina. I started playing chess at a young age and it quickly became my lifelong passion. Over the years, I have competed at national and international levels, and now I am sharing my knowledge and experience with others. My focus is on helping students grow in a structured and inspiring way — whether their goal is to win tournaments, improve online ratings, or simply enjoy chess more deeply.

Playing experience

I have been an active tournament player for many years. My achievements include:
-2x National Champion (Bosnia & Herzegovina, youth categories).
-Represented my country at both the World and European Youth Chess Championships.
-Earned the official title of FIDE Master (FM) through consistent results at international tournaments.
-These experiences taught me the importance of discipline, preparation, and resilience — qualities I aim to pass on to my students.

Teaching experience

While I don’t have decades of coaching behind me, I have worked with younger players helping them analyze games, build opening repertoires, and prepare for tournaments. What I bring to the table is fresh experience — I recently went through the same path of improvement myself, and I know first-hand what it takes to break through to higher levels. My coaching is based on empathy, patience, and practical insights from a player still active in competitive chess.

Other experiences

Reaching the FM title was a milestone for me, and the journey itself is what makes me confident as a coach. I know the struggles, the setbacks, and the breakthroughs that every ambitious player faces. Because of that, I can relate to students at different stages of their chess career and guide them with realistic, motivating advice. I am committed to continuous improvement — both as a player and as a coach.

Best skills

Strong understanding of openings and practical repertoire building.

Deep knowledge of middlegame strategy and typical plans.

Endgame fundamentals explained in a clear and structured way.

Ability to analyze and explain complex positions in simple terms.

Patience and empathy with students, adapting to their personal learning style.

Passion for motivating students to stay disciplined and focused.

Teaching methodology

My teaching is structured but flexible, always adapted to the needs of the student. A typical lesson includes:

Warm-up with tactical or strategic exercises.

Focused theme (openings, middlegame plans, or endgames).

Practical play or analysis of the student’s own games to connect theory with practice.

Homework and feedback to ensure steady progress between sessions.

I believe in long-term improvement through consistent work, balanced between tactics, strategy, and psychology. My goal is not only to teach moves, but to help students understand chess deeply and enjoy the process of growth.
