forum post number?

hi all, are the forum post numbers not visible to everyone, or is it a glitch on my device(s)?
and even in replies to posts, it doesn't say @(insert username) said in #x:
I think this makes browsing forums a little inconvenient. what do y'all think?

Thbault argued that the post date is already an anchor link.

However it is not very visible, and since the link is not included when you quote a post, this is really a usability regression.

I think it also helps to have the numbers for referencing in replies— it prevents massive walls of quote text.

Some of the missing posts were removed for their inappropriateness, or their authors removed them themselves for whatever reason, or their accounts were closed.

I kinda like the unified "+" button that now appears from mobile, while the "desktop experience" seems to remain as before.

Although I will add it could be made a bit more subtle, in its current iteration it is visually heavy and a bit distracting, scrolling a thread/topic without reactions it is the single thing that stands out more on the page (both in light and dark mode).

OP meant the NUMBERS themselves are missing, not skipped due to deletion by mods.

In any event, I have just learned a beautiful new phrase: "usability regression"!

why change what hurt no one

post numbers aren't exactly superflu after all - everyone's been using them to refer to

you don't change a running system just like that
