Let me know in the comment section of this blog or my inbox at Lichess, if you can recommend other streamers or resources for learning and improving chess calculations
I guess just playing more OTB games you know.
Jacob Aagaard book, Grandmaster Preparation - Calculation. Technically it's for Grandmasters but it could be useful, There are some exercises and advice. And it's free from archive.org so why not check it out!

I'm curious about how new puzzle themes are come up with, selected among candidates, and then added to Lichess for everyone to enjoy. Does anyone around here know?

Lichess is a platform that lives from contributions by anyone who feels like they have something to give:
http://lichess.org/help/contribute
In this light I have noticed earlier that parsing puzzles is not so hard, if you know Python and can use CoLab:
https://lichess.org/@/dirkster99/blog/parsing-chess-data-to-discover-mating-patterns/l2rhQiHg
I am following the practice section:
https://lichess.org/practice/checkmates/piece-checkmates-i/BJy6fEDf
here at Lichess to define puzzle themes that are not available, yet, since I think that mating and checking patterns are surely one of the most core fundamental things to learn and understand in chess. Once I am through the practice section, I may look at other puzzle themes, as well. If someone has other puzzle themes to offer through their own work, they can always approach me, as I am always keen on looking at it and maybe adding it, if the theme is well defined and executed (data quality is OK)

@dirkster99 awesome!
I am a big fan of IM Martin Bennedik and the puzzle themes he came up https://chesspuzzle.net/Filter
His site offers compound motifs like clearance for checkmate, decoy into fork, etc His puzzles offer different goals: win, draw, regain material, defend, attack, etc.
I wish lichess also offered such interesting and practical themes. Please check them out!

If you are interested in mating patterns. Lichess offers mate in 1, 2, 3, 4, etc However, you can't explicitly select mating pieces. For example we can't select mates in 2 using primarily piece pairs like: queen + pawn, rook + knight, two rooks, queen + rook, bishop + knight, rook + bishop, king + queen, etc, etc, etc
Each piece combination results in similar checkmate motifs and patterns and therefore are definetly worth learning.
