THINK blog Volume 2 Chapter 6

Tournament
Things ya didnae ken

Scots lyrics are everywhere. There is a meme I have seen now and then based on an urban legend ostensibly about a friend's child who thinks that MC Hammer is a Scottish name, i.e. McHammer, and below this are lyrics for Ya Cannae Touch This. The thing is, there really are well-known songs out there with Scots lyrics. Not long ago I was listening to Under the Bridge* and was struck by the following lyric

She sees my good deeds/ and she kisses the windae (=window)

Don't take my word for it, listen to the song and it's there, clear as day. Then there's the part of perennial dance floor anthem Show Me Love** that goes:

Words are so easy to say/ oh aye

And there you have it, now you'll never be able to unhear it.

*Song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (not to be confused with the excellent Red Hot Chilli Pipers)
**Song by Robin S. (not to be confused with Robyn. Definitely nothing like Robin Thicke, for those that remember him)

Brainbox challenge lv (mega edition) remains playable. It's a sort of Sweatin' to the Oldies marathon, the Roll of Honour place of which appropriately enough was won by an old bloke whose name escapes me. Nevertheless, head honcho J Arthur Rankrotten has left it open for those who still wish to have a go.
