Sicilian Defense: Scheveningen Variation, Modern Variation

In the Modern Variation of the Scheveningen, black stays flexible with their pawns, but directly challenges white's central control. After castling, black may challenge white's control in the center with a d5 or e5 break. Depending on the pawn structure, black may also play Nxd4, Qxd4 e5!? cementing control in the center and keeping white's e2-bishop inactive.
